Felipe França foi um dos destaques de uma das etapas do Mare Nostrum, principal circuito de natação da Europa, realizado nesta semana, na França. O atleta do Corinthians venceu os 100m peito e deixou para trás o campeão olímpico e mundial Cameron van der Burgh, da África do Sul.
França ganhou a prova com o tempo de 1min00s11, enquanto Van der Burgh fez 1min00s26. O brasileiro também deixou para trás o russo Anton Chupkov (1min00s38), atual campeão europeu.
A disputa entre França e Cameron é bem antiga. Os dois se enfrentam nas principais provas mundiais desde 2009. Agora, o objetivo de Felipe França é tentar manter o resultado na principal competição do ano: os Jogos Olímpicos do Rio.
