O atleta “Mo” Farah, nascido na Somália, mas naturalizado britânico, ganhou na manhã desta quarta-feira, 5 de outubro, o prêmio de atleta europeu do ano. Entre as principais conquistas de Farah em 2011 estão o ouro nos 5 mil metros e a prata nos 10 mil metros do Campeonato Mundial de Atletismo, em Daegu, Coreia do Sul, e o primeiro lugar nos 3 mil metros do Campeonato Europeu Indoor, realizado em março, em Paris. A russa Mariya Savinova, dos 800m, foi a eleita entre as mulheres.
