O ex-soldado da Marinha norte-americana Matias Ferreira, amputado das duas pernas, completou no último fim de semana a Meia-maratona da Disney, na Flórida. Correndo com próteses, o atleta, que perdeu os membros quando servia no Afeganistão, levou 3h54min16s, mas o tempo era secundário. “Estou muito feliz de estar aqui e ver o que consigo fazer”, disse.
Ferreira perdeu as pernas em uma explosão na plataforma que estava, em janeiro do ano passado. Quanto à experiência de correr com membros mecânicos, ele disse: “comecei a sentir dores depois de um tempinho. Mas não havia razão para parar. Eu apenas continuei indo”, completou.
